"Argo" won best picture at Thursday's Critics' Choice Movie Awards at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.Hours after being overlooked for a directing nomination at the Academy Awards, "Argo" helmer Ben Affleck also won that prize at the kudofest."I would like to thank the Academy," Affleck joked. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding. This is the one that counts."Jennifer Lawrence won two awards and shared in a third. Lawrence scored comedy and action acting awards for "Silver Linings Playbook" -- which itself came away with three other prizes, including top comedy and top ensemble -- and "The Hunger Games." Bradley Cooper of "Silver" was named top comedy actor.However, the prize for best actress went to Jessica Chastain of "Zero Dark Thirty." Best actor went to Daniel Day-Lewis of "Lincoln."Phillip Seymour Hoffman ("The Master") was tapped as top supporting actor, while supporting actress kudos went to Anne Hathaway for "Les Miserables."Screenplay honors went to Tony Kushner ("Lincoln") for adapted and Quentin Tarantino ("Django Unchained").Top foreign film at the CCMAs went to "Amour," while the animation prize was presented to "Wreck-It Ralph" and the documentary kudo to "Searching for Sugar Man."Other nods in the action genre went to "Skyfall" and its lead actor Daniel Craig. Quvenzhane Wallis earned top youth acting honors for "Beasts of the Southern Wild.""Life of Pi" (cinematography and visual effects) won two below-the-line honors, as did "Anna Karenina" (art direction and costume).
